KUBIK

On Friday Sept 7th, we discovered the true side of a European club. As architecture students, we had of course heard of this cool new wave bar that was called KUBIK, which will also move cities by the end of the month. Architecturally awesome because it is made of 1000L illuminated tanks that stack in anyway to form the walls of a bar, and place to dance. Alternating neon green and pink, it was hard to miss as we finally found our way from the metro to the beach. We learned from that experience that the metro closes at 12midnight, and to remember the exact name of the road to which you are heading. We of course stayed until sunrise because the metro didn't start til 5am, and once you make it that far, why not see a strange new city at sunrise. As we got kicked out of the club at 5am, we managed to impress some locals enough to invite us to another party down the beach. This to our surprise had its own stage, dj, and 100 dancing people on the beach. As the sun came up, we started to discover our surrounding and found ourselves to be in front of a factory(aka sewage plant). As we walked back to the metro at 7:30am, along with about 50 still energetic Spaniards, we stopped to marvel at the huge solar panels that had cover our club from the night before. So I decided to look up what exactly surround this club. It was the Forum Esplanade with Solar Panels by Torres & Lapena <Forum> . Close by we discovered the Edifici Forum by Herzog & de Meuron Architects which we had already heard about and now could finally put a location to. The Zona de Banys, Forum Barcelona, was an amazing place to see our first sunrise and experience some amazing architecture, even after a night out on the town!
