A Living Site

This is my site assignment for the week summarizing our trip to the outer edges of our site, the Port in Barcelona. I discovered two conflicting aspects of the landscape of the Port. There was a strange beauty to the dominating landscape of metal and concrete. The appeal was more in the structure and order, which makes the Port seem like a living breathing organism. Each small container a cell in the bigger scheme and function of the port. I found there seemed to be so much life and routine within the mechanical, in an almost organic and innate sense. The Port extends for miles, and it is obvious the importance of it to the city. From the castle atop the Montjuic, people from all over the city and over the globe come to sightsee, and the dominating sight is the Port. The project site for this semester, being a portion of the Port, was easily seen from the mountain, and it was very interesting to observe all the individual aspects of the site from above. However we were unable to fully explore the site other than from a distance.
