The Dam

After spending four days in Amsterdam, I am determined to live there for some unspecified period in my life. The people were fantstic, the coffeeshops genius. I loved the use of bicycles over cars, and how all of the main streets had a view of the canal attached. Architecturally, I loved how quirky the old city is. I don't care that most of the buildings are lopsided, I thought it just gave them character.

By far my favorite area of the city, however, were the newer housing projects out on the Eastern Islands, in Borneo and Java. I think it's great that the city allowed such crazy designs to be implemented, and that the homeowners were given a high degree of culture in the design of their residences.
