Skin for Effect and to Conceal

Torre Agbar looked pretty neat from far away but at a closer distance, I couldn't help noticing that the materials and structure hidden underneath the bazillion glass panes were somewhat cheap in appearance - especially the windows. While visiting the site, I looked down and saw your average drainage grate: a skin to the infrastructure below. When walking, you never think about the pipes beneath the surface. Similarly, the average person visiting Torre Agbar would never think about the way the glass outer skin hides the lights, cameras, walkways, and (cheap) paneling and windows. Kudos to Nouvel for using low cost materials to create a great effect. Sorry to whoever has to clean that glass.
